Where it started
Wanda Animalart is Virginia's pet-portrait practice in Córdoba, with work created using pastel, watercolour and coloured pencils.
-
The problem
Visitors discovering the artwork through social media need a consistent place to see completed pieces, understand the commission process and make contact.
-
What framed the work
- Portfolio and practical commission information in one place
- Direct contact through WhatsApp, Instagram and email
- An aesthetic that accompanies the work without competing with it
-
What it had to achieve
Turn an artistic portfolio into a clear digital introduction to the artist, her work and the commission experience.
-
The solution
A responsive website combining an artwork gallery, category filtering, artist introduction, materials, a step-by-step commission process and direct contact through the channels used by the brand.
-
Information architecture
The site moves from the artwork to the commission: a gallery of recent portraits can be filtered by category, an artist introduction explains the practice, a materials section documents the mediums, and the commission process is presented step by step before direct contact.
-
Visual & interaction design
An artwork-led visual hierarchy keeps the portraits primary. Warm, personal presentation supports the hand-made character of the work, and the path from gallery to enquiry carries minimal friction.
-
What it does
- Portrait gallery
- Recent commissioned portraits gathered in one place.
- Dogs, cats and other categories
- The gallery can be filtered by subject category.
- Artist story
- An introduction to Virginia and her practice.
- Process
- The commission path, from sending photos to delivery, explained step by step.
- Materials
- The professional papers and pencils used in each piece.
- Contact
- WhatsApp, Instagram and email as direct ways to start a commission.
-
Design & engineering decisions
- Artwork-led visual hierarchy
- The portraits lead the composition, with the interface staying quiet around them.
- Minimal friction from gallery to enquiry
- The structure guides the visitor from the work to the commission without jumps.
-
Considered and rejected
- Staying on social channels only
- Social feeds could have carried the work, but they scatter the portfolio and the process; a single site was chosen to make the commission path explicit.
-
Technical approach
Astro provides the static build; the site is a content-led portfolio with direct external contact routes.
-
